The Holy Grail: LORAC PRO Palette

1:20 PM

I first learned of the LORAC PRO Palette from Jen (frmheadtotoe). The number and variety of mattes was impressive, and coupled with the famed quality of LORAC shadows, blew all thoughts of getting the Naked palette from my mind. And let me tell you: all the raves are justified. This is by far my favorite indulgence from this trip.

The palette has 16 colors, the top 8 being mattes, the bottom 8 satins and shimmers. I love how the shadows have no-nonsense names and how they're arranged from light to dark.

There's greater variety here than can be found in other neutral palettes. And the formula, gosh, so finely milled and pigmented, both matte and shimmer alike. It's not often I can say that I can use all the colors in a palette, but in this case it's true.

The mattes are so silky, with only White and Pink being a teeny bit chalky but still very fine. Loooove using these for work. The shimmers are gorgeous, just look at them. Very fine, no fallout. These were swatched once with no primer.

You get 0.55 g of each shadow, less than those in other palettes. But with the formula, you don't even need much shadow to get great color payoff, plus I have small lids so it's no problem for me. Though I do wonder why it's marketed as a pro palette when it contains fewer grams per shadow; I would assume that professional makeup artists need a greater amount per pan for their gigs.

The palette itself is long but thin, the thinnest palette I have. Being made of laminated board, it's not as robust as other palettes, but it's certainly lightweight and makes a great travel companion.

It also comes with a mini Behind the Scenes Eye Primer (5.5 g), which applies very smoothly, dries matte, and helps prevent creasing. That's all I ask for in an eye primer.

The Wrap

Pros

A lot of variety in both mattes and shimmers, making it very versatile
Wonderful formula, buttery smooth, highly pigmented
Simple and straightforward shade names
Shades can be used on most skin tones

Cons

None

The Vegas Sephoras stopped carrying LORAC and none of the department stores had them, so once again, Amazon saved the day. Shipped directly from Amazon LLC, the LORAC PRO Palette retails for US $42 (~Php 1,722).
